Singapore is a small island city-state located in Southeast Asia. With the Strait of Johor making its maritime border with Malaysia in the north. It is a unique blend of modernity and tradition, with a fascinating mix of cultures and religions. Singapore is known for its world-class attractions and its beautiful beaches. Singapore is often referred to as the 'Las Vegas of Asia' due to its vast array of casinos, luxurious hotels, and vibrant nightlife. It is also a popular destination for tourists, offering a wide range of activities and attractions to explore, from shopping to sightseeing.
I came to this place expecting never-ending fun, but what I got was a never-ending nightmare. It started on the plane from Tokyo to Singapore. Right after landing at Changi Airport, I knew something was wrong. I was weirdly uncomfortable and weak. The experience is similar to a roller coaster ride that starts off exciting but quickly turns into a nightmare. Everything seems great at first, but as you go along it gets worse and worse until the ride ends and you realize the whole journey was a mistake. I passed through what seemed like the end. Surprisingly, my tired and weak body managed not to burst into a fever 2 hours after the first symptoms and I barely passed the temperature check after immediately rushing to the hotel and falling right to sleep. Little did I know that I had caught Covid for the very first time in my life. A few days later, I realized that I might possibly be detained, quarantined or simply deported to transfer points like Hong Kong or Macau, if my Covid symptoms appeared a few hours earlier at the airport.
As soon as I stopped consuming energy, all of my cells hurried towards every part of my body to combat the incoming invasion. They "suited up" and started battling. My temperature shot up to 38.4 degrees then 39.7 the next morning. But after vomiting, nausea, coughing, starving, thirsting and many other symptoms to name my white blood cells along with medicine healed and cured my illness.
Luckily, I fell ill in Singapore, where we could communicate freely in either English or Chinese. It was a relief to find antipyretics in Singapore, especially since they were nearly impossible to find in China at that time. But, after I was nursed back to health, my days in Singapore weren't long.
According to some random traditional Chinese doctor, healed Covid-19 patients couldn't contact water because they might get a cold or pass out. Imagine bathing in the 30 degree sun and not being able to swim in a chilling pool! I think you're even more likely to pass out that way! In the end, I think I would've been better off staying in the hospital!
Anyway, I went to an average aquarium and left Singapore with disappointment and grief.
One thing I learned from the trip to Singapore is that God doesn't want me to go to Singapore, because in January 2020, We were planning to go to Singapore. We even booked our hotel! But the last minute decision to stay because of the then mysterious Covid-19 ruined all hopes and dreams. I thought this time surely, there was no stopping me but I was wrong. I may have entered Singapore borders but the Lord always has a plan. I got Covid and stayed inside, mostly ruining my second and final attempt (for now) to get to Singapore.
In conclusion, Singapore is this fun place that I somehow can't access easily.
